1916 History Tour

On 22nd April, pupils from 2nd to 6th class travelled to Dublin to experience some of the great facilities that are available as part of the 1916 Centenary Year.  The first stop was to the Natural History Museum where we were introduced to the events leading up to the Rising.   The Museum held many key documents and artefacts relating to the Rising, such as one of the original copies of the Proclamation.  We also took in a tour of Collins Barracks.  Next stop was to Merrion Square, where we boarded a Troop Carrier, and travelled through Dublin taking in the key locations of the battle as it unfolded in 1916.

We then travelled to Natural History Museum in Merrion Square to take in more sights and history.  Our day finished with a trip to Supermacs.   Everyone agreed, it was a great experience.
